Southern Edge Dance Center - Here's what we offer:

Jazz - Appropriate top or leotard with jazz pants or capris, jazz shoes of your choice. (No Dance Sneakers)

Tap - Same attire as jazz. Tap shoes of your choice.

Ballet - Any color leotard. Pink or Black tights with pink ballet shoes of your choice. Skirts are optional.

Pointe - Same as ballet. Your instructor must approve pointe shoes.

Musical Theater - Same attire as jazz.

Hip-Hop - Comfortable clothing that you can move freely in. Any choice of dance sneakers or tennis shoes with black or gray soles (No White Soles!).

Lyrical - Same attire as Jazz. Tan “dance paws.”

Fairytale Dance - Any color leotard and tights. Black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes.

All dancers are required to dress in the proper attire. Failure to do so could result in students being asked to sit out of class. Hair must be neat, and pulled back out of your face.

Please note that students will be required to wear a specific color shoe for the recital. You will be informed of the required shoe upon “watch week.”

Combo - Beginner, intermediate and advanced levels | Ages 5 and up

Combo is a combination of jazz and tap.

Jazz dancing emphasizes technique, rhythm and flexibility to music of today together with the classical jazz of yesterday. It brings energy and life to all those who dance.
Tap dancing focuses on rhythm, syncopation and intricate footwork, creating a fun instrument out of the dancer’s feet.

Ballet - Beginner, intermediate and advanced levels | Ages 5 and up

This class is the foundation of all dance styles. We stress proper body alignment to prevent injury. Students will improve strength, articulation of movement, and knowledge of ballet terminology.

Pointe - Advanced level following an evaluation | Ages 12 and up

This is for the more advanced ballet dancer. Our instruction focuses on alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet, legs and execution of turnout.

Musical Theater - Intermediate and advanced levels | Ages 11 and up

This Broadway inspired class, teaches theatrical facial expressions and performance qualities. From such musicals as: A Chorus Line, Hairspray, Chicago, and Fame, etc.

Hip-Hop - Beginner, intermediate and advanced levels | Ages 8 and up

This class focuses on individualism and self-expression, with a “street jazz” background, while dancing to the latest hip-hop, pop and R&B music.

Lyrical - Intermediate and advanced levels | Ages 11 and up

This is a contemporary style of dance that focuses on technique while dancing fluidly and emotionally interpreting the lyrics of music.

Fairytale Dance - Beginner level | Ages 3-5

This fun and exciting class combines tap, ballet and acro, teaching the fundamentals of dance.
